Simple, Useful, and Lasting are adjectives that describe the design mantra at North Cascades Designworks.

Simple

Simple Design doesn’t mean products that don’t do complicated things. It’s taking a complex problem and solving it with fundamental solutions. This might include minimizing the number of parts, steps, or fasteners and combining functionality into a single product.

Useful

Useful Design is making a product that is purposeful. It should have a function, make life easier, and help you accomplish your goals or tasks. However, Useful Design doesn’t mean that you have to throw aesthetics aside. We want our products to look as cool as they function.

Lasting

Lasting Design is creating products that are durable, can be abused, reused, and repaired. We strive to make our products from materials that can be recycled. However, we hope that our products become heirlooms that you can pass on to friends and family for others to enjoy.

Message from Doug

The reason for creating North Cascades Designworks was a bit self-serving - I wanted to create products that I want in my life. As a designer and engineer, I always look at products and see how they can be improved and more useful. North Cascades Designworks is an outlet to create products I want to use and hope that others will find them just as useful. Our products are mostly outdoor themed, but you will notice as we grow that products may cross market segments as I find more things to create.

With 30 years of product development, over 25 patents, design experience in medical, military, consumer electronics, and vehicle systems design, I hope to bring simple, useful, and lasting products to consumers that I am proud to own myself.
